Syria, afraid of 28 thousand missing persons

Human rights groups working in Syria claim that at least 28 thousand people are missing after being abducted by the army or militia.

They say they have the names of 18 thousand persons missing since the beginning of the protests 18 months ago and they are aware of the 10 thousand other cases.

Avaaz activist group reported online that "nobody is safe" government terror campaign. The group intends to give the UN Council for Human Rights a file for investigation.

Avaaz has collected evidence from many Syrian women who say their husbands, sons and daughters were taken away by pro-government troops.

Alice Jay, leader of the group, says: "The Syrians were kidnapped from the streets and security forces and paramilitary groups are zhvuken in torture cells".

"If women when they go to buy food either when farmers go for fuel, no one is safe. This is a strategy to terrified families and communities, "said Jay.

"The panic of not knowing where a spouse or child, or if they are alive or not breeds fear among citizens," said activist.

She further added that the fate of all these people should be investigated and those responsible should be punished abductions.
